> Shadow Diamond Cowl

Shadow Diamond Cowl
By using fingering/ sock yarn worked at a looser gauge, combined with an easy knit/purl pattern, this cowl has the style to wear as an accent piece indoors or out. It provides lightweight warmth without making you too hot.
The buttons allow you to style this multiple ways, and if you want to give your cowl a twist or fold the top down, go right ahead! The shadow diamond stitch pattern is reversible, so the “wrong side” is just as pretty as the right side.
Difficulty: Beginner - a great project for someone who is new to knitting.
Skills required, or to learn for this project: knit, purl, psso, slip.
Yarn: The combination of fingering/ sock yarn worked with slightly larger needles plus the simple knit/purl pattern provides great drape for this cowl. It’s a great opportunity to use beautiful yarns, especially those super-soft blends. The stitch pattern will show up best with a solid, semisolid, or lightly speckled yarn, but it can also be worked in variegated or tweedy yarn. You will need approximately 55 g/ 225 - 250 yards.
Some budget-friendly yarns that work well with this pattern: Cascade 220 Fingering, Berroco Ultra Wool Fine, Knit Picks Palette, Knit Picks Stroll, and Knit Picks Gloss Fingering
Gauge/ needles: 24 sts and 30 rows to 4”/ 10 cm. US #6/ 4.0 mm needles or as required to obtain gauge. Gauge is not crucial here, so if you are off by a stitch or two it is not hugely important; it will just slightly affect the width, but not the length, of your finished cowl. This cowl is worked flat.
Pattern support: Designer email is included in the pattern in case you have questions.
