Fingerprint Puppets
This August Knitting4Peace is hosting it’s annual Create-A-Thon! They are doing this to raise money and to help gather items for the cold weather month. This year they mainly need kid’s hats, kids scarves and Peace Pals. You can help them reach their financial goal of $7500 by donating today!
These cheerful and diversity-friendly finger puppets were designed for Knitting4Peace. For now all of the finger puppets donated are sent to baby and infant clinics for use in language development so for this reason adult puppets are mostly needed. See my pattern intro for more details.
- Want to knit some Peace Pals (dolls) or finger puppets for charity and also go in the draw to win some gorgeous yarn? Why not join the August Charity Along hosted in the Itty Bitty Along Group! Click here to join the fun!
Construction
These puppets are knit in the round, on dpns from the bottom up. They have bobble boots and arms to save on fiddly sewing, and no face required! The girl’s hair is attached by looping it around the head hole with a tapestry needle. Any decorations are done with embroidery.
Yarn
For both the adult and child sizes I recommend sock/fingering. For slightly bigger puppets you could use sport or dk.
Permission
Although these puppets were designed for Knitting4Peace, you have my permission to use them in any way you wish, but I do ask that you make a small donation of $5 dollars (or more) to Knitting4Peace in exchange. You can donate here! If $5 is not doable please consider this pattern a gift.
- August 14th, 4:00 PM MDT, I am offering a free workshop on Zoom named Embroidery on Knits & Bespoke Finger Puppet Patterns with Natasha Hanson. Click here to reserve your ticket.
Praise for Fingerprint Puppets
These are so cute and fun to make. (Elemenopeo)
Quick little knit. (GigiGinny)
I found the pattern very easy to follow, and a super fun knit. I was worried that it would be futzy, but the clever bobble feet and hands were easy to do and ending up very neat looking. (LongmontKathy)
They are so cute! Thank you, Natasha, for always designing such cute dolls. (mirihi)
