This knitting pattern is a colourwork Cowl in the design of Fir Tree. It is knitted in 4-ply on a circular needle. As you can see from the main photo, I knitted the cowl in 3 different colourways. A coloured rib starts the pattern, which then takes you to the main body of the pattern and finishes with the coloured rib. There is a clear, colourful chart to show the colourwork pattern.

Size Finished size—when laid flat, 25-29 cm (9.75” - 11 1/4”) x 17 cm (7”) (so 19.5”- 22.5” in the round), although you can make it longer by increasing the number of repeats. The yarns suggested will do several more repeats than stated in the pattern.

Tension Stocking Stitch: 28 sts x 36 rows – 10cm x 10cm/ 4”x 4 (colourwork can vary in tension, so please do a tension square, yes we all hate doing them )

Materials
The cowl is knitted in the round with a 60cm 3.25mm circular needle.

Suggestions of yarn

Left Cowl: Scheepjes Metropolis Lyon & Scheepjes Downtown Park View (50g 200m/219 yds)

Middle Cowl: Scheepjes Metropolis Lyon & Scheepjes Downtown Leafy Suburb (50g 200m/219 yds)

Right Cowl: Drops Fabel Light Pearl Grey & Drops Fabel Emerald City. (50g 205 m/224 yds)

Any leftover yarn would be ideal for a sock project. :) To sew in the few ends, you will need a stitch marker and a sewing needle.

The pattern can be altered to add width by adding extra repeats if needed.
