Flying Gulls Hat was inspired by the funny and cunning gulls flying at Easton’s Beach in Newport, RI. These gulls are acclimated to people eating on the beach and are experts in stealing food. They are excellent in timing their thefts of food out of hands or off blankets when people are not attentive. They even raid the snack bar.

The mosaic hat is knit from brim to crown and uses two skeins, one light and one dark colored, of DK yarn for a mosaic shadow pattern. The pattern is easy and uses only one color every two rows. You slip the stitch of the color that you are not using in the row.

The hat sizing will fit a toddler, child, teen and adult women and men. The green hat height has been shorten by not knitting the Stockinette section of the hat before the setup row. You may adjust hat height in the stockinette and brim sections of the hat to give the fit that you would like.
