A whimsical take on the forests of the Pacific Northwest, and created for a good friend named Forrest.

This pattern is more a record of what actions I have performed to make this blanket. I did not use testers or tech editors. It is free. I understand how lean these days can be. However, after you’re done making your beautiful blanket, and you’re so inclined and able, you can make a donation by emailing me an amount you think I deserve, and I can send a PayPal invoice for that amount. If you think this pattern sucks, or have questions or comments, suggestions, or whatever else, my email is TexasCrochetDesigns@gmail.com

I used about 24 skeins (4,464 yards, 1,200 grams) of fingering weight yarn total - all Hobbii Rainbow Deluxe 8/4 in the following colors: cream (color # 3, ~2.5 skeins), turmeric (color # 45, ~4 skeins), dark steel blue (color # 31, ~5.5 skeins), gobelin blue (color # 32, ~4.5 skeins), jam (color # 60, ~5.5 skeins), rouge (color # 52, ~1.5 skeins), and blush (color # 53, ~1 skein) - and a 2.5mm hook. I used 10 skeins for all rounds of Color A, and I used 14 skeins for rounds of Color B, in case you’d like to change up the colors! I’ve indicated in the pattern where I’ve started using which color #.

The final dimensions of the blanket is 4ftx4ft (1.22mx1.22m). If I had used a dk weight yarn and a 4 or 4.5 mm hook, this would’ve been about 6ftx6ft. Feel free to change up the yarn weight or colors to customize your blanket’s size and look!

You might need to search for and watch an overlay mosaic crochet tutorial on YouTube first if you’ve never used that technique before. This pattern could be done by an adventurous beginner, as long as you know the anatomy of stitches and the types of stitches listed below.

My apologies go out to the more visually inclined as I will not be providing charts along with the written pattern. In the making of this blanket, I did not draw up many of the figures in it, and therefore don’t have them for you to reference, either.
