I love Frida Kahlo. I often think about her life, its highlights and challenges. When designing this cardigan, I admired Frida’s works and the details within them: petticoats adorned with beautiful lace fabrics and braided hairstyles. From that inspiration, this soft and feminine cardigan design was born. I love the softness and roundness of the blown wool yarn used in the cardigan – it gives the lace pattern a new kind of, more ethereal look. The Frida cardigan is knitted seamlessly top-down. The raglan sleeves bring structure and a good fit to the design. Beautiful edging worked in double stockinette and the button band complete the style. Stylish buttons finish the button band and the overall look of the cardigan: choose sparkling and bold buttons or more subtle and natural ones to suit your style.

NEEDLES
5.5 mm (US 9) circular needles with 80 cm (32 in) cable for body,
5.5 mm (US 9) circular needles with 40 cm (16 in) cable for sleeves (or long cable for magic loop),
5 mm (US 8) circular needles for neckline,
4.5 mm (US 7) circular needles 80 cm (32 in) for hem and
4.5 mm (US 7) double-pointed needles for cuffs.

GAUGE 18 sts × 24 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 in) in lace pattern stitch according to chart using 5.5 mm (US 9) needles, after blocking.

NOTIONS
Stitch markers, stitch holders, tapestry needle, 4–6 buttons (diameter approx. 22–26 mm / 0.75–1 in), tapestry needle.
The sample (size XS/S) has 4 buttons; you may add more buttons if desired and if making a longer cardigan.
