This is a tunic, but it can also be a vest or a dress. The simple reverse stockinette lace is framed by an elegant 1x1 rib. The tunic is A-line shaped: slightly fitted in the bust area and flaring away from the body in the waist and hips area. It is worked top down and requires very minimal sewing. The tunic has saddle shoulder construction. Working top down allows to adjust the length of tunic to personal needs. It is finished with a simple and elegant ribbed neckline and very short cap sleeves shaped with short rows. The lace motif is very easy to remember, which makes most of this tunic an easy ‘TV knit’. Yet it has some interesting, ‘need-to-pay-attention’ parts, which makes it interesting for any level knitter.
Garden City tunic comes in 6 sizes (1 -10 years old). It is meant to have +8 cm/+3 inches positive ease in the bust area.
My samples are knit in worsted weight cotton 75%/acrylic 25% blend. It would look lovely in any wool blend that meets the gauge.
