Gingerbread Dress Up Doll
Updated 09/05/2018 with a new outfit, wide leg overalls, and a new variation, a bodice seam effect. I’ll be adding a photo tutorial soon, as well as a tutorial for making your own perfectly sized hangers from jumbo paperclips, so be on the lookout!
A simple doll with two dresses, two pairs of overalls, and lots of variations!
Use any hook and yarn you want to create your doll and her own unique wardrobe. This pattern is perfect for scrap yarn! There’s a wide, A line dress; a narrow, shift-style dress; narrow overalls; and wide leg overalls each of which can be made in one solid color or in two or more colors and worked in the back loop or in both loops. The dresses also have an optional edging, which can also be worked with the back loop version to create a fancy, frilly dress. Instructions are not included for additional embellishments, but let your imagination run wild! Embroider a face, add some tiny bows…The sky’s the limit!
While this pattern can use scrap yarn of any size, the sample dolls were made with Red Heart Super Saver (body) and Caron Simply Soft (clothes) and a 6.00mm (J) hook. They measure approximately 7” tall and used about 40 yds for the body and at most around 25 yds for each outfit.
