Granny's cat granny square
Notes:
This is a LATE-BEGINNER friendly crochet pattern. This piece is worked centre out, as a regular granny square is. It is based off a circle to square granny square with 3D aspects incorporated to make that kitty pop! The pattern includes a colour change and a stitch holder is required. The stitches primarily used are the single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, stacked single crochet, slip stitch, chain, popcorn stitch, and back post treble stitch. It starts with a magic circle. It is written in US terms and the measurements provided are in cm.
Ch= chain
Sc= single crochet
Stsc = stacked single crochet
HDC= Half double crochet
DC= double crochet
Tr= Treble crochet
Popcorn = 5 DC popcorn stitch (5 dc in next stitch, remove hook, place hook into the top of FIRST DC made, grab the working loop which is on the FIFTH DC and pull through. Sl st.)
Slst= slip stitch
BPTr = back-post treble crochet
Colourwork:
One core colour for the cat (colour A) and an outside colour (colour B)
Yarn: Aran or worsted weight yarn
Hook size: 5.75mm hook – I tend to crochet tightly though, please use a hook to match the gauge.
Gauge: 6.5 rows x 12st = 10cmx10cm in DC
Flat measurement: 16cm x 16cm
This pattern is worked in joined rounds.
