Hairy Highland Leprechauns
Life is harsh on the Frozen Tundra where the Hairy Highland Leprechauns graze. They are thankful for their thick, woolly locks that protect them from the bitter wind and freezing snow!
Simple Construction
These thumb-sized leprechauns with bobble nose are knit in the round on dpns. Their hats are knit separately also in the round, and slide into place to save on sewing. Arms and horns are made by picking up stitches and knitting I-cords. The hat buckle is stitched into place to save on fiddly colorwork. For the beard you can use locks, or I will teach you how to separate your plies to make them curly.
Supplies Needed
A small amount of stuffing, locks (optional) and crochet hook for attaching beard securely (also optional).
Yarn
My leprechauns are knit in worsted as it makes them sturdy and allows them to stand independently, but they look cute in any size yarn. If you want a curly beard you will need yarn that keeps it’s curl well after it’s plies are separated.
