One of the best-fitting socks you’ll ever find is a ribbed sock, thanks to the stretchiness of the organized columns of knits and purls. There’s also something so meditative about silently repeating “knit three, purl one” around the leg of a sock while I’m knitting. Before I know it, I’m halfway down the leg! These socks create my very own Happy Place, and they are second only to simple stockinette in the number of pairs that I’ve knit.
This sock begins with 1x1 ribbing on the cuff, which seamlessly transitions to the 3x1 ribbing on the leg. A slip-stitch heel flap adds extra durability to this wear-prone area. The gusset appears on the bottom of the foot and neatly hugs the bottom of the heel for a comfortable fit.
This design is perfect for almost any type of fingering-weight sock yarn, making it so much fun to play with! I’ve included options for a contrasting cuff, toe, and heel, or use a single skein throughout. Whatever colors you choose, I hope you find your Happy Place!
