HARPA
These mittens are from Halldórustofa. In 1962, Halldóra Bjarnadóttir gave these mittens to the Farmers Association of Iceland, and they later went to the museum in 2003. These mittens are knitted in 2-ply hand-spun wool. They show signs of extensive use and wear in places, and are heavily darned and mended. The cuff is worked with 4 rounds of ribbing followed by various patterns, and with an afterthought thumb. This is a decorative and multi-patterned mitten that is an exciting project for those new to stranded knitting.
