Hearty Top

Version 1 (the darker pink one)
The knitting is started with working an I-cord strap, where stitches are picked up. Then the upper part is shaped with increases while working flat, the back & front are exactly the same. The body is worked in the round in stockinette stitch. The top is bound off using an I-cord bind off or the method you prefer.
The top is designed with 5 – 10 cm / 2 – 4” of negative
ease.
The sample is made in size 3, my bust is approx. 80 cm / 32” & my under bust is approx. 72 cm / 28⅜”.

Version 2 (the lighter pink one)
The Hearty Top is worked top down in stockinette stitch. The knitting is started with a folded top part in the front, then the front is shaped with increases while working flat. The back is lower than the front, & there are two I-cord straps per side. The body is worked in the round in stockinette stitch. You can either bind off using an I-cord bind off or make a folded hem.
The top is designed with 5 – 10 cm / 2 – 4” of negative ease.
The sample is made in size 3, my bust is approx. 80 cm / 32” & my under bust is approx 72 cm / 23⅜”.

Gauge:
27 sts x 36 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” in stockinette stitch, after blocking
27 rnds = 10 cm / 4” in I-cord with 3.5 mm / US 4 needles, after blocking
Needles:
3 mm / US 2.5 circular needles with a 40 - 100 cm / 16 - 40” cable, adjust length for the size you’re making, and
3.5 mm / US 4 circular needles or DPNs for i-cord straps. Adjust needle size to match gauge.
Yarn:
The top is worked with a fingering / sport -weight yarn.
The darker pink sample is made with Sandnes Garn Mandarin Petit (100% cotton, 180 m / 197 yds per 50 g) in color 4813 Pink Lilac.
The lighter pink sample is made with Hjertegarn Cotton nr 8 (100% cotton, 165 m / 180 yds per 50 g) in color 4951
