The Mellow Hood is worked in garter stitch. The crown is worked first, then stitches are picked up around the crown and the hood is shaped with a combination of increases & decreases, with cables running along both sides.
Then it’s joined in the round and a 1 x 1 rib is worked for the collar that warms the neck.
Lastly, stitches are picked up around the face opening and a double folded edging is worked in the round, with an I-cord threaded inside for tightening it around the face.

The pink sample is made in size 1 &
the lilac sample is made in size 2.

Gauge:
20 sts x 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” in garter st, with 5 mm / US 8 needles, after blocking
The knitting is started with a rectangle, which you can use as a swatch!

Needles:
3.5 mm / US 4 circular needles with a 40 – 80 cm / 16 – 32” cable for the ribbing in the collar
4 mm / US 6 circular needles with a 40 – 60 cm / 16 – 24” cable for the double folded edge in the face opening,
5 mm / US 8 circular needles with a 40 - 80 cm / 16 - 32” cable for the rest of the hood.
And 5 mm / US 8 DPNs for the I-cord (optional). Adjust needle size to match gauge.

Yarn:
The hood is worked with a worsted -weight yarn.

The lilac sample is made with Drops Air (65% alpaca, 28% polyamide, 7% wool, 150 m / 164 yds per 50 g) in color mix 41 &

the pink sample is made with Viking Garn Alpaca Bris (60% baby alpaca, 29% nylon, 11% wool, 150 m / 164 yds per 50 g) in color 361.
