The Helix Raglan is a comfy, oversized & elegant raglan pullover featuring a delicate twisted-stitch cable detail along the raglan lines. The recommended yarn is a sport weight, minimally processed wool that blooms when washed, so it can be knit at a relatively looser gauge. Alternatively, a DK yarn should work well — just make sure you get a pleasing fabric at a 21 st/4” gauge. The recommended positive ease is 6-8”, but feel free to aim for less ease if you prefer a closer fit.

Beige & green Helices are pictured in size 2 on a bust size of 33” (8” of positive ease). Beige version is knit in Rauma Finullgarn in the colorway 452 “light beige”. Kelly green version is knit in Tynn Peer Gynt from Sandnes Garn in the colorway “jelly bean green”. The blue version is pictured on my lovely tester, Jeane, in a size 5, and is knit in Kelbourne Woolens Scout in the colorway “ocean heather”.

Purchase of this pattern includes a standard version, a print-friendly version, and a large text + print-friendly version for enhanced readability. There are both charted and written instructions included for the cable motif.

Construction: The Helix Raglan is knit in the round from the top down, beginning with a twisted-rib collar, which is worked for several inches and then folded over & knit together. German short rows are worked to lift the back neck. Raglan increases are combined with a delicate cable pattern for the yoke. The sweater is then divided for body and sleeves, and the body and sleeves are finished off in the round. Additional short rows lower the back hem for a perfect fit.
