Heron Infinity Scarf Crochet Pattern

I created this pattern because I wanted a scarf that was less bulky for those in-between days. Something light and airy for those days that are almost warm enough to go scarfless, but not quite. I’ve been wearing this scarf around town and it’s light enough that I can easily do up my coat without choking myself or feeling like a marshmallow on legs.

This is a great project for using up scrap quantities of yarn. For the two-colour version, follow the colour changes in the first column (labeled 2C). For the three-colour version, follow the yarn colour changes in the second column (labeled 3C).The samples shown are made with Lion Brand Pound of Love in Charcoal and Cherry (2C), and Patons Decor in Pale Grey, Pale Oceanside, and Rich Oceanside (3C). If anyone experiments with more than three colours, I’d love to see the result. Finished scarf measures 27” folded (54” around), by 6.5” tall. If you wish to make it longer, add stitches in increments of 4 (eg. start with 156, 160, or 164 stitches in R1).

This scarf is worked from the RS only, in rounds. Place stitch markers (optional) in the first and last stitch of the first round, then move them up as you go. This serves as a good reminder of where to start and stop each round, and prevents accidentally stitching into the slip stitch. Carry the colours up the seam, no need to cut yarn before each colour change. At the end, weave in the tails around the carried yarn to fasten it down.

Foundation SC is strongly recommended over a foundation chain, because it will have similar stretch to the rest of the rows. Chains tend to be tight. Instructions are provided for both.

Stitches:
FSC Foundation Single Crochet (optional)
SC Single Crochet
DC Double Crochet
Puff Puff Stitch (YO, hook through st, YO, pull through, repeat until 7 loops on hook, YO, pull through all loops, then seal it with an SC).

sl st Slip Stitch

Materials:
6.5 mm crochet hook
Finishing needle
