“Hope Gallery Graffiti Socks” is the first pattern released from Lollyfii’s ATX Hometown series. This ongoing series’ designs are inspired by Lollyfii’s hometown of Austin TX.

This toe-up pattern may be used to make socks of any height: ankle, mid-calf, or knee high.

This pattern also uses German Short Rows, but your preferred short row method may be substituted, and was written to be knittted on circular needles using magic loop method.

Materials

  • 1 fingering/sock weight yarn in Main Color (MC) - pictured in Teal (socks shown used Cascade Yarns Heritage Paints 9785 Coasta, but any solid fingering weight yarn will do)
  • 1 fingering/sock weight yarn in Contrasting Color (CC) - pictured in Rainbow (socks shown used Cascade Yarns Heritage Paints 9822 Rainbow Mix, but any variegated fingering weight yarn will do)
  • 1 circular needle in US 1 (2.25 mm), or size to hit gauge, with a long enough cord to knit magic loop (I prefer 24” or longer, since the extra long cord prevents ladders between stitches)
  • 1 Stitch marker
  • 1 Tapestry needle to weave ends

Yardage:

  • 150 yds per color (MC/CC) for children’s socks
  • 200 yds per color (MC/CC) for adult sizes

Yarn Note: This pattern is superb for variegated yarns with short color runs (do you have a yarn in your stash that looked great in the skein but knitted up into a splotchy mess?). Yarns like this shine as the CC yarn in this pattern. Just add a solid as the MC.
