The Hug My Shoulders Capelet knitting pattern is a fabulous knitting project. You will get a great practical garment and nice accessory, which can be worn over any dress, giving a very feminine and stylish appearance. Knit it in any type of yarn, such as a cotton blend for summer, or wool blend for winter. I used untreated Drops Nepal Arran to create a trendy vintage style. Any other Arran yarn works well.
The comfy design features a slightly flared scalloped hem and is finished with a knitted Rose blossom motif, attached to the folded Capelet centre front.
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate. MATERIALS REQUIRED:
• 4, (5, 6, 7) x 50g balls 300, (375, 450, 525) m or 328, (410, 492, 574) yds using Drops Nepal mix. Colour shade 0206.
• NB If you substitute another yarn, please check tension and yardage.
• 1 Circular needle 5.50mm x length 100 cm (US 9).
• 1 Tapestry needle.
• 1 Stitch Marker.
NB Needle size is only a guide- if you get too many stitches on 10cm, take a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10cm, take a smaller needle size.
SIZES: S - M, (M - L, L - XL, XL - XXL).
The Capelet pattern is in 4 sizes. It is photographed in the smallest size option. Pattern is written for smallest size with changes to bigger in parentheses. Different colour font use represents different size.
ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING
Capelet length (from top of the shoulders)- 31cm (12 ins).
Capelet flat width (halfway around bottom of hem)- 60 (65, 70, 75) cm 23 1⁄2, 25 1⁄2, 27 1⁄2, 29 1⁄2) ins.
GAUGE (Tension): 16sts and 26 rows = 10 cm (4 ins), measured over Stockinette st, (garment being blocked), using 5.50mm (US 9) needle or size required to give correct tension. It’s very important to check your gauge (tension) before starting as working to the wrong tension will mean your garment won’t be size shown.
