The name for these socks comes from the feeling you get when you slip them onto your feet - they feel like a soft, warm hug!

The Huggy Socks are knitted toe-up, with gusset increases and a heel constructed using short rows and a heel flap. After the heel, you can customize the cuff length to your preference.

There are four sizes available, and they are made with Aran weight yarn, so they knit up quickly!

This is a super beginner-friendly and fun project! If you haven’t knitted socks before, this is a great place to start :)

Measurements:

Measured from the finished sock. The pattern has a negative ease, so choose a size where the foot length and circumference is 0,2 – 0,4 ” / 0,5 – 1 cm smaller than yours. For example my foot is about 25.5 cm / 9,8” long and its circumference is about 21 cm / 8,6” and I made the socks in the size 38/39 // 7/8,5.

Length of the foot: about 9 (9,5) 10 (10,5) inches / 23 (24) 25,5 (26,5) cm
Sole’s circumference: 7,5 (8,2) 9 (9,8) inches / 19 (21) 23 (25) cm
Cuff’s length measured above the heel: 8,2 (9) 9,8 (10,2) inches / 21 (23) 25 (27) cm

Gauge:

20 sts x 26 rnds = 10 cm x 10 cm / 4” x 4” in 2 x 2 rib after blocking

Needles:

3.5 mm / US 4 circular needles for magic loop with 80 – 100 cm / 32 – 40” long cable depending on your preferences. Or adjust needle size to match gauge.
If you’re using double pointed needles, the first circular needle is number 1 and 2 double pointed needles and the second circular needle is number 3 and 4 double pointed needles

Yarn:

The socks are knitted with one strand of DK / worsted weight yarn.
The sample socks are knitted with Novita 7 Brothers (80% wool, 20% polyamide, 200 m / 219 yds per 100 g)
Other yarn options are Sandnes Garn Perfect, Menita Lasse, Gjestal Janne and Markus Company 8 ply.
