I was longing for a garment that would be super comfortable while also being elegant to wear out and about. As well as a garment that I could feel I am bringing the warmth of home with me wherever I go. Hygge Hug embodies these feelings and be with you for any occasion.
The pullover is worked from the top down, flat at first, then seamlessly in the round. Its’ construction blends a saddle shoulder with a drop sleeve, enhancing your enjoyment of the knitting process (yay no seams!) while also giving a beautiful leaf-like shape to the shoulder fake “seam”. The body and sleeves of the pullover are worked completely in the round top down, until the split hem on the body, where the front and back are worked separately. A double knit edge nicely finished the side edges of the split hem, which is knit simultaneously with the rest of the fabric. Stitches are picked up along the neckline at the end to create a rolled neckline.

Sizes

  • 1 (2, 3, 4, 5){6, 7, 8, 9} Finished garment bust circumferences: 44.2 (50.5, 54.3, 58, 61.9){65.5, 69.5, 74.5, 78.3}” / 112.2 (128.3, 137.9, 147.3, 157.2){166.4, 176.3, 189.2, 198.9}cm
  • Choose your size to match your desired garment bust circumference. This pattern is suggested to be worn with 15”-17”/38-43cm of positive ease. Meaning the measurements of the garment are 15”-17”/38-43cm larger than your body measurements.
  • Consult schematic on page 2 for garment measurements. Sample shown in size 2 - model has 34” bust.

Yarn

  • Unspun fingering weight yarn held with a lace weight silk mohair. Or worsted weight spun yarn held single. Or you could even hold a lace weight silk mohair triple.
  • The sample uses Nutiden yarn - whos’ fluff nicely fills out the finished fabric. Some other similar unspun yarns include: Lopi Plötulopi, Woollentwine Thrive, Wild Wool Canadian Wool Discs, and Wool Dreamers Manchelopis.
  • Honer Och Eir - Nutiden - Fingering weight - yardage varies per 100g cake - 100% Wool. AND
  • Shibui - Silk Cloud - Lace weight - 330yds/300m per 25g skein - 60% Kid Mohair, 40% Silk.
  • Sample uses colorways 2NEG=1POS of Nutiden yarn held with Shibui Silk Cloud Noire 2195. approx. 225 (250, 280, 305, 330){360, 390, 420, 445}grams of unspun Fingering weight yarn required and approx. 1056 (1122, 1254, 1386, 1518){1650, 1755, 1874, 1980}yards of Shibui Silk Cloud yarn required.
  • Please note, every colorway of Nutiden is created differently and therefore contains different fiber types, so it is very difficult to predict exactly how much yarn you will need. I always suggest purchasing more than you think you will need all at once as Honer Och Eir only produces one batch of any given colorway.

Needles

  • 4.0mm / US 6 circular needles for main body fabric
  • 3.75mm / US 5 circular needles for hem ribbing
  • 3.5mm / US 4 circular needles for neckline ribbing
  • The sizes above are only a suggestion. Choose needle size to obtain the correct gauge.

Gauge
- 19 stitches and 26 rounds in 4”/10cm in textured stitch as described below, using the needle for the body fabric, blocked and dried. Check your gauge is the same when working flat or in the round.

Notions

  • 2 lengths of scrap yarn (for holding sleeve stitches)
  • stitch markers
  • tapestry needle for weaving in ends
