The Isabel Top is a wrapped top that’s tied at the side of your body creating a beautiful and elegant bow. It includes optional instructions to knit German short rows to shape the back and bust decreases to shape the bust. You can wear it with or without a garment underneath.

The piece is worked flat, top-down and seamlessly. First, the back is knitted flat in stockinette stitch, shaping the underarm. Then front left and right panels are knitted picking up stitches from the cast on edge until joining the three panels. Finally, body and armhole ribbing are double knitted, as well as the ties.

The pattern includes written instructions for every size, as well as pictures of the process and links to video tutorials.

About the skill level, I recommend this pattern if you’re a confident beginner (I recommend it if you have followed a pattern before), since you’ll use some basic techniques, such as increases (left leaning and right leaning), decreases, knits, purls and double knitting.

Sizes
The pattern comes in 10 sizes (from 70 cm/27.5” to 160 cm/63’’).

I recommend 0 to 5 cm of negative ease, as well as a yarn that doesn’t stretch to much, since your top will stretch a bit after a couple of wears.

Gauge
25 sts x 38 rows =10 cm x 10 cm (4” x 4”)

Materials

  • 3.5 mm circular needles (or the needles you need to meet the gauge): 60 - 100 cm (24-40”)

Suggested yarn
To knit this top, you’ll need fingering weight yarn (I recommend a yarn that doesn’t stretch too much.

Please, have in mind that the yarn needed may vary depending on how long you want your top.
