The Kylu Vest is a buttoned vest with an easy, yet engaging, lace pattern and finishing i-cord details that make it look polished and neat. It will become a staple in your “all seasons” wardrobe, since you can wear it with or without a garment underneath.

The piece is worked flat, top-down and seamlessly. First, the back is knitted flat, shaping the underarm. Then front left and right panels are knitted picking up stitches from the cast on edge until joining the three panels. Finally, body and armhole ribbing are finished with an i-cord edge.

The pattern includes charts and written instructions for every size, as well as pictures of the process and links to video tutorials.

About the skill level, I recommend this pattern if you’re a confident beginner (I recommend it if you have followed a pattern before), since you’ll use some basic techniques, such as increases (left leaning and right leaning), decreases, knits, purls, yarn overs and i-cord. Also, you will have to read (easy) charts.

Sizes
The pattern comes in 10 sizes (from 65 cm/25.6” to 155 cm/61’’).

I recommend 5 to 10 cm of negative ease, if you’re looking for a fitted vest (which is my case), or 0 to 5 cm of positive ease if you’re looking for a more relaxed garment.

Gauge
20 sts x 30 rows =10 cm x 10 cm (4” x 4”)

Materials

  • 4 mm circular needles (or the needles you need to meet the gauge): 60 - 100 cm (24-40”)
  • 3 mm circular needles (or 1 mm smaller that the ones you used to meet the gauge)
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Buttons (I used 5 for my cropped version, I recommend buying them after knitting the garment, to see if they fit)

Suggested yarn
To knit this vest, you’ll need DK weight.

For size A (B, C, D, E) F (G, H, I, J) you’ll need 300 (360, 400, 460, 530) 600 (670, 750, 820, 900) meters of yarn.

Please, have in mind that the yarn needed may vary depending on how long you want your vest.
