Jubia’s is a pair of fingerless mitts designed for chilly mornings, when you want to keep your hands warm while leaving your fingers free. The kind you slip into a pocket and pull out again without thinking.

On the back of the hand, the pattern of the cowl and the hat falls like a fine rain: slanting eyelet lines, with a cable running alongside. It is mirrored from one hand to the other, so that the two mitts echo each other. A gusset makes natural room for the thumb, and twisted ribbing holds the wrist and the top of the hand.

Like them, they owe their name to Jubia Lokser, the water mage of Fairy Tail: wherever she goes, it rains.

Knit here in La Bien Aimée’s Merino Aran, a plump merino that gives the cables depth, they complete the set. A soft, quick little project, to keep for yourself or to give.
