Here is a wonderful crown pattern for any little kings or princes (or queens or princesses for that matter). It is knitted-in-the-round and so requires a 40cm/16 inch 3.75mm/US size 5 circular needle and a set of 4 dpns to match. It’s quite quick to knit up, although the optional jewels require some hand sewing to attach them.
There are 4 different yarns in total and each requires less than 1, 50 gram ball.
The band requires 2 yarns for the slip stitch pattern. I suggest non-itchy yarns such as Bendigo Woolen Mills Harmony or baby wool. (Make sure baby wool is 8ply/DK). The yarn for dots is doubled, so you may want a second ball for ease of use, otherwise use from both ends of one ball.
All other yarns are wool or high-percentage wool blends such as Bendigo Woollen Mills 70%wool, 30% bamboo. High viscose yarns such as bamboo are too drapey for this project.
You will need to pick up and knit stitches.
Gauge is 22 sts to 10cm or 5 1/2 sts to 1 inch over stocking stitch (stockingnette).
Written instructions are very detailed and include explanatory photographs where necessary. Included with the pattern is an introduction to circular knitting as well as techniques and abbreviations used.
Lengths are given in both metric and imperial units.
Basic instructions given for an extra small and extra large sizes.
Yardage for medium/large is approx. 230m/250 yards and 215m/235 yards for small.
