Knit Armwarmers
Knit Armwarmers Design Note
Designed to wear with one’s favourite vests, these made to measure armwarmers are useful for transitional seasons when you are no longer wearing big jackets but it’s still too cold for bare arms. I think the long length makes them a little more interesting, but the length can be customized to be anything from extra short to extra long. The optional crochet trim makes the armwarmers look less store bought and more personalized.
Workflow
Work from hand to lower bicep in rib pattern throughout. You will be working in the round using the magic loop technique for most of the time, except for the thumb opening, which is made by working back and forth.
Yarn
As these armwarmers require relatively little yarn (especially if you are making a shorter length, you can likely get away with just one ball of yarn), using yarns from stash is highly encouraged. You can use any sport weight merino yarn. The pattern includes some guidance on finding suitable yarns from your stash.
Skill Level
Recommended for more advanced beginners and intermediate knitters, due to following elements:
- shaping in pattern (m1r, m1l, m1rp, m1lp),
- casting on additional stitches,
- taking body (arm) measurements,
- some calculations for made to measure
Gauge
4 sts x 4 rows / 1cm x 1cm (0.39in x 0.39in) in k3p1 rib pattern
