Lake of the Woods
This design encapsulates the color of our northern climes during our fall and winter months. The landscape there is barren and stark, yet beautiful. This hat as written, has a slight slouch, which you can change easily by subtracting or adding a row or two of the textural rows. I’ve included a few different colorways in both masculine and feminine versions and each colorway work out just fine. The first hat I made in this design has a stripe, the others do not. I did not include this in the written instructions. The textural part of this design is very easy to do, you are only working with one color at a time. The crown is easy for beginner colorwork knitters. You just need to know how to read the charts (2 in this design). There are many colorful possibilities with this and I look forward to what you make. Keep in mind this design is also open to your own interpretation, adding or subtracting what you like or don’t like, or even adding additional charts. It’s all fun!
NOTE
The Rios I used was on the thinner side, closer to sport weight and not worsted, as noted by Malabrigo. The Primrose Homestead Worsted was thicker than the Knit Picks Swish Worsted. Even so, they all worked out just beautifully but keep that in mind as you are choosing your yarns. It is also why I chose not to include gauge as they both were so different.
Please remember to add your FO to your Ravelry projects.
Thank you so much. I hope you enjoy knitting this pattern, I plan on adding a matching cowl at some point.
