Lavender Malt
Inspired by fields of lavender, these socks have a beautiful mesh lace that opens up over the foot. With the spines of the lace looking like wonderful blossoms of lavender. Perfect for the spring time weather!
Please note the pattern is written for magic loop style sock knitting, with a traditional heel flap and gusset, and wedge toe. There are brief instructions for method conversion to other sock knitting methods (DPN’s and 9” circulars).
Sizes: 60 (64) 68 (72) stitch size. Please pick the size with your normal stitch count for socks.
Gauge: Approx. 8 sts per 1” inch/2.5 cm. You may want to swatch in the lace pattern as it can be tight prior to wearing/blocking.
Materials: Sample was knit in Lovebird Lane BFL Sock in Flora OOAK (approx 423m/400g) for a size US 6.5 womens on a 60 stitch count (approx 180m used).
Pick your favourite indie dyed sock yarn or commercial sock yarn. A bold simple colour, with a few speckles allows the lace to speak for itself.
Recommended Needles: 2.25 mm needles
Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch markers. Sock blockers are recommended to help open up the lace, but are optional.
