Imagine a summer afternoon, warm wind caressing your skin and the sounds of music floating over the festival field.

You are just throwing a boho-style cape over your shoulders. Its delicate weave dances in the sun, while the fringes and loose cut give the whole thing a casual, artistic character.

Discover Leaf Cover-Up! Knitted from cotton, breathable yarn, it will be the perfect complement to your style, wherever summer takes you.

DIFFICULTY: 3 out of 5

This pattern is designed for the intermediate knitters (number of pages: 44). It requires knowledge of understanding charts.

The ‘mini’ version of the wrap (black) is the base pattern. The ‘maxi’ version (ecru) is an optional modification included as an add-on.

Before knitting, read whole instructions.

SIZE GUIDE: XS/S (M/L) XL/XXL

Buying the pattern, you get the full chart of sizes.

Measure your bust circumference and choose the correct size from the table (the measurements refer to the wrap’s measurements after blocking, error margin +/- 2 cm 1 in).

’MINI’ VERSION:

  • back lenght: 44 (49) 55 cm / 17.25 (19.25) 21.75 in

’MAXI’ VERSION:

  • bust circumference: 80-90 (90-102) 102-120 / 31.5-35.5 (35.5-40) 40-47.25 in
  • wrap circumference: 93 (107) 120 cm / 36.5 (42.13) 47.25 in
  • back lenght: 120-130 (125-135) 120-130 cm / 47.25-51.13 (49.25-53.13) 47.25-51.13 in

This pattern allows you to adjust the length of the body and/or the sleeves.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Leaf Cover-Up is a kind of wrap with raglan sleeves.

The cover-up is worked from the bottom up using the lace stitch based on the attached charts. Its edges are finished with the I-Cord Bind-Off technique and additional boho-style tassels.
All stitches are included in the charts – including the edge stitches.

You will start by working the body in rows. Once it’s ready, you will work the sleeves in rounds. Then, you will join all these parts together and continue working on the yoke in rows. You will shape the raglan line and the neckline by decreasing stitches. After binding-off the stitches, you will block the cover-up and then finish it.

TUTORIALS:

Techniques:

  1. Long Tail Cast-On
  2. Lace stitch
  3. Yarn Over
  4. Decreasing stitches (k2tog, ssk, cdd)
  5. Basic Bind-Off
  6. Picking up the edge stitches
  7. Knitted Cast-On
  8. I-Cord Bind-Off

YARN

Recommended yarns:

’MINI’ VERSION:
350 (450) 550 g Lamana Cosma (50 g = 100 m 109 yd, 60% organic Pima Cotton and 40% Modal) or 350 (450) 550 g Drops Muskat (50 g = 100 m 109 yd, 100% cotton)

’MAXI VERSION:
650 (750) 800 g of Lamana Cosma (50 g = 100 m, 60% organic Pima cotton and 40% modal) or 650 (750) 800 g of Drops Muskat (50 g = 100 m, 100% cotton)

Adjusting the body length of the cardigan by approx. 11 cm 4.25 in will require an additional approx. 1.08 (1.23) 1.38 skeins of the recommended yarn. Adjusting the sleeve length by approx. 11 cm 4.25 in will require an additional approx. 0.72 (0.86) 0.86 skeins for both sleeves.

Please note that the longer the body is intended to be, the slightly lower the estimated yarn usage will become (this has already been accounted for in the ‘maxi’ version), as the body will stretch under its own weight.

NEEDLES & ACCESSORIES:

  • circular needles: • 4,5 mm US 7m) 47 in or other size suitable for obtaining the correct gauge size • 4,5 mm US 7m) 16 in short needles for making sleeves • 2 mm US 0m) 47 in for picking up the edge stitches
  • stitch markers, measuring tape, darning needle with a large eye, knit blockers, blocking mats, row counter
  • additional circular needle or a piece of thread to put the stitches away

GAUGE:

The following gauge was made in rows on 4,5 mm US 7 needles and measured:

• before blocking: 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 in = 17,5 sts x 28 rows in lace stitch
• after blocking: 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 in = 18 sts x 26 rows in lace stitch

Make and block the lace stitch gauge based on the chart report with the leaf motif (attached to the pattern). If your swatch is too large use smaller needles or work the stitches tighter. If it is too small, use larger needles or work your stitches more loosely.
