Soffio Beret is a light, classic beret, perfect for spring. You can finish it with an I-cord stem, a pom-pom, a bow, or leave it in a minimalist version – each option gives it a different character. The pattern includes sizes for both children and adults.

This beret is worked in the round from the bottom up: brim, body, and crown.

DIFFICULTY: 2 out of 5

This pattern is suitable for beginners. The bow is an advanced technique.

** SIZES: TODDLER (JUNIOR, S, M, L)**

Measure the head circumference and select the appropriate size.

• Toddler 49–51 cm 19.25–20 in
• Junior 51–53 cm 20–20.75 in
• S 53–55 cm 20.75–21.75 in
• M 55–57 cm 21.75–22.5 in
• L 57–59 cm 22.5–23.25 in

RECOMMENDED YARN

50 g Lamana Como (25 g = 120 m 131 yd, 100% merino wool) held together with 25 g Lamana Premia (25 g = 300 m 328 yd, 60% mohair, 40% silk)

Yarn requirements do not include yarn used for the swatch.

BERETS SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS

• Blue (Toddler): Lamana Como Pigeon Blue (36), Lamana Premia Pigeon Blue (36)
• Yellow (Toddler): Drops Flora Lemonade (26), Drops Kid-Silk Lemonade (52)
• Red (Junior, S): Lamana Como Carmine (33), Lamana Premia Carmine (33)
• Grey (S): Lamana Como Marble (57M), Lamana Premia Silk Grey (03)
• Cobalt (M): Lamana Como Royal (10), Lamana Premia Royal (10)

The yellow sample was knitted using 50 g of Drops Flora (50 g = 210 m 230 yd, 65% wool, 25% alpaca) and 25 g of Drops Kid-Silk (25 g = 210 m 230 yd, 75% mohair, 25% silk). When using these yarns, use a larger needle size to obtain the correct gauge.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS

• 3 mm US 2.5 circular needles (50 cm 20 in) or another size needed to obtain correct gauge
• 2 mm US 0 circular needles (40 cm 16 in)
• 3 mm US 2.5 circular needles (80 or 100 cm 32 or 40 in) or 3 mm US 2.5 DPNs for working the smallest circumferences
• 1 stitch marker, yarn needle, measuring tape
• optional pom-pom maker (for a pom-pom approx. 4.5 cm 1.75 in in diameter)
• optional elastic tape, 0.5–1 cm 0.25–0.5 in wide and 40–50 cm 16–20 in long (to be sewn into the brim)

GAUGE:

The gauge swatch was worked in stockinette stitch in the round using 3 mm US 2.5 needles and measured as follows:

• before blocking: 10 × 10 cm 4 × 4 in = 24 sts × 35 rnds
• after blocking: 10 × 10 cm 4 × 4 in = 23.5 sts × 35 rnds

Make and block a swatch. If your gauge is larger than stated gauge, use smaller needles or work more tightly. If it is smaller, use larger needles or work more loosely.
