This oversized scarf is the perfect antidote to cold winter days, keeping you warm and toasty with a zing of colour! Instructions are given for 3 sizes.

Level: This pattern is aimed at beginners and beyond. It uses the basic chain, UK double (US single) and UK treble (US double) stitches. UK and US term patterns are provided, as well as left-handed versions.

You will need:
6 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle
Scissors
14cm long rectangle of card to make the tassels

Yarn: Scheepjes Stonewashed XL or Riverwashed XL:
The pattern could also be worked in a single colour, or any number of alternating blocks. There are 36 blocks in total, which works well for alternations of 3,4,6, 9 or 12 colours. You will get 3 blocks from 1 x 50g ball.
12 x 50g balls will make the full length extra-long scarf (3m), in any combination of 2, 3, 4, 6 or 12 colours.
9 x 50g balls will make a medium length scarf (2.2m), in any combination of 3 or 9 colours.
6 x 50g balls will make a short scarf (1.5 m), in any combination of 2, 3, or 6 colours

Other yarns: The recommended Scheepjes yarn is quite a bulky aran, and handles a 6 mm hook well, if using another aran weight yarn, you may find a 6mm hook creates a fabric that is too loose. In that case, drop down a hook size (either to 5.5 mm or 5 mm) but be aware the scarf will be a little narrower and a little shorter - though you can, of course, add as many more pattern blocks as you like.
