This cozy, classic triangle is adaptable -- use just a few colors or up to 25!

Letters Home is inspired by correspondence and friendship. It’s the result of a collaboration with Rachel of Six & Seven Fiber, and it features her richly colored DK yarn.

An adaptable pattern

This pattern invites you to make it your own:

  • Vary the stitch patterns
  • Omit the colorwork
  • Change the number of colors
  • Simplify or make more detailed - any way you like!

I include written instructions, charts for the small colorwork section (optional), and suggestions to modify for a smaller a shawl (shown in bottom photo) or for fewer colors.

It’s possible to do a very simple version that celebrates each color in turn, with stockinette and Garter ridges, or to do any combination of the slip stitch patterns given.

YARN

Sample shown uses 25 colors of DK yarn.

  • One main color (about 245 yards)
  • 24 minis, for a total of about 700 yards/640 meters
  • Smaller sample in later pictures uses the scraps leftover from the large shawl and a quite simplified set of stitch patterns.
