Crowned In Texture…

A sculptural design that lets structure do the talking.

The Lexigan Beanie features bold travelling cables that flow across the fabric and converge into a striking crown — a satisfying finish that feels as good to knit as it looks to wear.

The single-colour approach allows every twist, cross, and line to shine, highlighting the architectural nature of the stitches themselves.

Worked in the round from brim to crown, with handy progress boxes so you can visually track where you
are.

There are full line by line written instructions with full layout reference charts.

Skills used …

  • Long tail cast on.
  • Knit and purl stitches.
  • Increasing (make 1 left).
  • Decreasing (knit/purl two together).
  • Cabling (2x2, 2x1).

You will need the following …

  • DK (80g/160m) in a solid or tonal colourway. Variegated won’t work well with this beanie.
  • 3.5mm* (US4) 16 inch (40cm) circulars.
  • 4mm* (US6) 16 inch (40cm) circulars.
  • 4mm* (US6) dpn’s.
  • 7 stitch markers and 1 BOR marker
  • Tapestry needle (for closing crown and sewing those dreaded ends in).

Gauge and Size…

22 stitches and 28 rows over 10cm (4 inches) using 4mm needles in stocking stitch (in the round). If you get more stitches/rows than me go with larger needles than noted and if you get less, go smaller.

Measurements (when unblocked and laid flat) :

Width (brim) 7.5 inches - Width (body) 8.5 inches - Height 8.5 inches

I have a 22 inch head and this fits lovely. It has also fit a 24 inch headed equally as well.

I can’t wait to see your beanie so please do be sure to start a project page or tag me Facebook/Instagram (#LexiganBeanie @beanieboatdesigns ).

If you like the look of this pattern it would be a huge help to me if you would give it a ‘like’ here on Ravelry. Your support of my little dream is so appreciated. Every ‘like’ helps and it’s a known fact that I do a tiny happy dance each time I get a notification. I am a terrible dancer!
