Light & Lacy Shawl
To celebrate its release, this pattern will be 25% off until end of day (CEST - Central European Summer Time) 24th April 2026
Light & Lacy Shawl
This shawl features sections of lacework with bordering twisted stitches and trailing braid style cables, all framed within a visually linear background of interspaced purl bump rows on a stockinette base, offering both texture and drape.
Knitting skills & techniques used:
Intermediate - Casting on, binding off, knitting, purling. Lacework stitches such as Slip Slip Knit (SSK), Knit 2 Together (K2TOG), Central Double Decrease (CDD), and Yarnovers (YO), as well as Right and Left-leaning twists (RT & LT) are used for the lace sections. And a 9-stitch cable is worked to create the central braid design.
Finished Measurements:
Wingspan 60” / 152cm
Depth: 33” / 84cm
(Please note the differences that occur in different knitter’s lacework and cables, both of which are involved across the shawl, as well as blocking actions, could result in slight differences in gauge expectations)
Materials:
Requires approx. 682 meters / 746 yards Fingering weight yarn, based on gauge given.
The following yarn usage amount is an approximate guide and is in fact a little over the actual amount I used, as I have applied an approx. 5-10% buffer of each ball used, plus rounded up the numbers, in view of differences between knitter’s gauge and such, and to give you a few grams room:
Whilst any Fingering weight yarn with good drape & stitch definition should work fine, for the sample I used Fyberspates Yarn & Thread, ‘Vivacious 4 Ply’, in ‘Blush’, (100% Wool - Merino, 100g, 365 meters / 399 yards).
Please note that the yardage amounts shown are a little over what was used in view giving you several grams room regarding what’s required.
Needles:
4mm / US 6 Circular needle (80cm-150cm).
Notions: tape measure, tapestry needle for weaving ends
Gauge:
4” (10 cm) on 4 mm / US 6 needles (after blocking)
20 sts & 42 rows in pattern stitch (6 rows Knit & 1 row Purl).
Incorrect Gauge can affect finished measurements/yarn usage.
