Little Dreams is a delicate crescent shawl that was inspired by the yarn color way names. If you are a follower of mine then you will know that I have a love for unique hand dyed yarns from small indie dyers. I fell in love with this beautiful blue from On The Round the minute that I saw it. She called it Narwal and knew that I wanted to use it in a soft shawl for spring. The little textured stitch used in the body is called Little Birds but I rather thought that it looked more like a whale’s tail splashing into the water and I immediately thought of Narwal! I paired it with a skein of earthy brown Pine Cone to keep it grounded. The edge is made up with a simple lace stitch that blends right into the contrasting picot border. I do include instructions for a simple garter border if you are not a fan of the picot!

Final measurements

82” long from tip to tip and 22” deep from top edge to bottom of crescent at the deepest point after wet blocking

Suggested Yarn

Two skeins of fingering weight yarn in two different colors, but you could easily make a beautiful shawl with two skeins of the same color. I do suggest solid, semi solid or tonal yarns for this one, otherwise your textured stitch will get lost. I used about 360 yards of each skein for my sample.

I would like to thank my test knitters, Susan B, Collin V, and Meredith C for their amazing feedback and patience. We held this test during the early part of the world wide Covid 19 containment measures and their shawls brought me some much needed joy!

This pattern has been test knit and edited and should be error free but if you find an error that I missed please contact me! I will work to fix it as soon as possible!
