PATTERN INFORMATION
Lotus Hat is made in soft worsted weight merino wool (Malabrigo Rios) using an interesting lace pattern. The pattern works well in both solid and variegated colourways.

Skills needed
Long tail cast on, knit, purl, decreases, increases, working in the round.

Sizes
S (M, L) Shown in size L.
To fit head up to: 51 (55, 59) cm/ 20 (21.75, 23.25) in. S is a young kids’ (3-5 years) size, M is an older kids’ (6+) and small adult size, L is a medium/large adult size.
Finished brim circumference: 40 (43.5, 47) cm/ 15.75 (17, 18.5) in.
Finished body circumference: 48 (52, 56) cm/ 19 (20.5, 22) in.
Finished length: 20 (23, 24) cm/ 8 (9, 9.5) in.

Gauge (measured after blocking)
• Lace pattern: 1 pattern repeat of 7 sts and 8 rows is 4 cm/ 1.6 in wide and 2.5 cm/ 1 in high, with larger needle(s)
• Rib pattern: 21 sts = 10 cm/ 4 in, with smaller needle(s)

Materials
Yarn:
120 (140, 160) m/ 132 (154, 176) yds of worsted weight yarn. Shown in Malabrigo Rios (100% merino super wash, 192 m/ 210 yds per 100 g, col. 120 Lotus).
Needles and notions:
• larger needle(s): 4.5 mm (US #7) or size needed for gauge, 40 cm/ 16 in long circular and DPNs, or long circular for magic loop
• smaller needle(s): 40 cm/ 16 in long circular or DPNs, or long circular for magic loop, 3 sizes smaller than larger needle(s), for ribbing
• yarn needle
• 1 stitch marker
