This is a case of the yarn deciding the project. I love big scarves and when I saw this Malabrigo Rios in Matisse Blue I almost instantly knew a big scarf would be the perfect project to show it off on an almost daily basis.

To add depth in both colour and texture I decided to go for a two coloured brioche scarf. I combined the Matisse Blue with a black cotton, this way the slight variations in colour in the Matisse Blue could really shine against the solid black. The difference in thickness in the yarns was an added benefit, creating even more depth and giving the Matisse Blue a more prominent role than the black cotton.

To make this deliciously oversized scarf of 45 cm width by 260 cm length you will need approximately 800 yards of both yarns. With the Malabrigo Rios this means 4 skeins are used. For the Onion Organic Cotton this means a little over 5 balls are used. You can easily create a shorter scarf if so desired by simply knitting fewer rows.

The gauge is an estimate. The brioche stitch is very elastic and thus the gauge can vary quite a lot between stretched and not stretched. The gauge given is the average between stretched and not stretched.

We all have them, yarns that call for more simple projects that really let them shine. Hopefully this pattern can proof to be such a simple project for you as well!

Happy knitting!
