Luna

Sadly, Luna is thought by some to be weird and strange. But really, she’s sweet, kind, and a breath of fresh air.

Malfoy and the Slytherins think Luna Lovegood is dotty and absurd. But they are wrong.
This bookmark pattern is dedicated to Luna. I have used seed stitch to create a dotty texture that Luna would love. The bookmark is a rectangle, knit on the bias with seed stitch and a garter stitch edging. All of those by themselves are fairly easy but combined create a more complicated pattern, so I’ve tried to create as basic a pattern as possible.

This bookmark is perfect for using up a couple grams of fingering weight yarn. I used La Mia Mercerized Cotton for this one, actually the Mini Mercerized Cotton. You also could use crochet cotton thread held double or triple, or a fingering weight finer DK weight yarn. It does not need to be cotton, that’s just what I chose.

Blocking is recommended for this bookmark because the corners roll in a little bit and you can’t see the yarn overs. Blocking opens up the seed stitch and pulls the fabric so the yarn overs are obviously there.

This pattern is the second pattern in the Magical Bookmarks series - a collection of free bookmark knitting patterns inspired by the girls of Harry Potter. #magicalbookmarks
