Magic Forest Beanie
The Magic Forest beanie, a stranded colour work project using 2 colours, is worked in the round from brim to crown. It’s a cosy and stylish accessory that can be knitted in either 4ply or DK weight.
Sizes: Circumference, both DK & 4ply versions, 46cm/18” brim circumference (unstretched)
Length, 4ply version 26cm/10.25” double brim unfolded
DK version 23cm/9” single brim
DK version 28cm/11” double brim (unfolded)
Gauge: 4ply version, 34sts/33rnds = 10cm/4”
DK versions, 28sts/28rnds = 10cm/4”
in colour work pattern, after blocking
Needles: 4ply version: 3.75mm/US 5 in 40cm/16” circular needles for ribbed brim (note, yarn is held double for the 4ply brim)
3.50mm/US 4 in 40cm/16” circular needles for colour work body (yarn held in single strands)
DK versions: 3.50mm/US 4 in 40cm/16” circular needles
AND, for all versions, needles suitable for knitting small circumferences in the round
Notions: 8 stitch markers (TIP: use 7 in the same colour/style for marking the crown decreases, and 1 alternative colour/style for marking BOR)
Tapestry needle for finishing crown and weaving in ends
Yarn used: 4ply version, 2 x 50g skeins wool decanted vintage 23 4ply (1 skein in each of Colour A and Colour B)
DK single brim version, 2 x 50g skeins wool decanted vintage 23 DK (1 skein in each of Colour A and Colour B)
DK double brim version, 3 x 50g skeins wool decanted vintage 23 DK (2 skeins in Colour A and 1 skein in Colour B)
