FOR ONCE, KEEP IT SIMPLE. And classic. And grey …
This cardigan is for all those who have never dared to knit one – it is a huge wrap with mini sleeves which sit at elbow height, so that the wrap stays where it is supposed to.

It is a blank canvas, sort of, on which you can “paint” your own ideas, like stripes or any stitch patterns of your own choice. Or keep it as simple as Stockinette, if you choose a yarn with an interesting texture, like in the sample.
With a 3-needle-bindoff (or Kitchener stitch) on the side seams (and with weaving in ends neatly), you can even wear the piece inside-out.

Because of the big body and the small arms, I have named it “Manati” – the German word for “manatee” or sea cow. Not exactly elegant, but somehow quite cute and charming, in a funny way.

Overview
• Provisional cast-on at center back.
• Work right side of cardigan in long rows from bottom of back to bottom of front until you have reached your desired width and/ or used up half of your yarn minus 20g.
• Bind off both lower ends of the body together, using the 3-needle-bindoff.
• Work right sleeve in Twisted rib (half of yarn used up).
• Repeat the steps for the left side.

Gauge
For sample: 24 sts x 34 rows with main needle 3,5mm, on a small swatch.
(Instructions are also given for stitch gauges 22 and 26.)

3 available sizes:
S/M, L, XL/XXL, with the following back width:
90cm/ 100cm/ 110cm.

Yarn usage:
About 540/ 600/ 660 g of Camellana/ Big Camellana needed -
or approx. 1900/ 2100/ 2300 m of a Fingering (or light Sport) weight.
(This contains a LOT of ease - you could get away with a size smaller than usual, or, as the cardigan is worked sideways, simply knit until you run out of yarn.)

Suggested yarns:
For Winter (22-24 sts):
RUPPERT Garne&Design Big Camellana (more Tweed effect, 350m/ 100g, 100% camel) with one strand only
or
RUPPERT Garne&Design Camellana with two strands held together (bigger color range, 700m/ 100g, 100% camel)
