Maple Coasters is a FREE, beginner-friendly, crochet pattern.

Time to cozy up with a nice mug of tea. But, what do you need? A coaster!

This pattern serves as an introductory guide to tapestry crochet. It includes photo-tutorials for required techniques, a guide to reading a tapestry grid, written instructions, and colorblock instructions. Not a beginner? You can skip right to the grid!

This pattern has been written to create a coaster, but the maple leaf motif can be incorporated into any project such as wearables. You can adapt the yarn weight and hook size to your needs. Know that yarn amounts may vary considerably as you change the yarn weight, hook size, stitch used, etc.

Materials

• Worsted Weight (#4) Cotton or Acrylic yarn in 2 colors, < 100 yds for four coasters
• 3.75 mm crochet hook
• Scissors
• Tapestry Needle
• Optional: Fabric for backing
