Be sure to check your own tension before starting to knit. Cast on 14 stitches and knit 20 rows on needles size 6 mm for a 10 x 10 cm sample. If tension measures too tight, change to a thicker needle. If tension measures too wide, change to a thinner needle.
Good to know
The vest is worked from the top down, primarily in the round. At the armholes, the work is divided and continued back and forth; the same method is used when shaping the neckline. The front and back are joined at the shoulders using Kitchener’s stitch. Stitches for the neckline are then picked up once the shoulders are connected.
The shoulder pads are created by picking up stitches along the shoulder, knitting them into a strip, rolling it into a tube, and stitching it to the wrong side.
