This pattern is a unique take on a stranded colorwork cowl, knit in the round, working in a tube from left to right of the pattern. A provisional cast on and Kitchener stitch create a seamless finish when joined in the round.

This pattern plays with mixing colorwork and texture to create a “woven” finish. Inspired by visible mending, this interlocking pattern lets knitters choose how yarns come together to create different blends of color, weight, and/or fiber content.

Color Recommendations
This pattern works best with solid MC and CCs. Avoid highly variegated yarns as these will hide the pattern.

Approx. Yardage
Exact yardage will differ depending on whether you use multi-color or single-color charts. For general yardage information, I’ve combined total CC yards.

Main Color (MC): 135, 200 (240, 450, 500) yards 124, 183 (220, 411, 457) m

Combined Contrast Colors (CC#): 105, 200 (325, 400, 437) yards 96, 183 (297, 365, 400) m

For each repeat of a CC, have approx. 30 yards 27 m. Sample uses approx. 60 yards 54 m white, 90 yards 82 m gold, and 150 yards 137 m grey.

Suggested Needles
US 4/3.50 mm or size needed to obtain gauge
16 or 24 in 40 or 60 cm circular needles based on size

NOTE: To maintain consistent gauge through project, you may want to go up a needle size for seed stich. Try swatching in both colorwork and stockinette if unsure.

Gauge
24 sts and 24 rows per 4 in 10 cm
Gauge is in stockinette after blocking

Notions
Stitch markers, scissors, tapestry needle, crochet hook and spare yarn for provisional cast on, spare needle of same size or smaller for Kitchener stitch
