This zigzag beaded scarf looks clever and elegant, but is extremely easy to make.

Like all minimal knits | DESIGNED scarves MK#20 drapes beautifully, can be worn in all sorts of ways and is quick to knit because it uses needles larger than is usual for the yarn. An elongated boomerang shape with a zigzag edge, it has the effect of being knitted on the bias.

I’ve made scarves like this before and been disappointed that the triangles often don’t lie neatly when I pop it on without being in front of a mirror.

So I had the idea of adding a tiny bit of weight (and subtle bit of bling) to the corners by knitting a little triangle of beads into the zigzag tips. It’s very easy to do and the pattern includes full instructions (as well as hints on choosing beads for knitting) which stand out from the rest of the pattern, so they are easy to ignore if you want to make it without beads… the scarf will still be lovely!

The sample scarf was made from two 50g skeins of Bombed Yarns 4ply Yak Silk yarn each containing 200 metres – 219 yards. It measures 190 cm / 75 inches, by 140 cm / 55 inches, by 74 cm / 29 inches without blocking.

Skill Level Easy… even though it includes a technique you might not have used before, the pattern contains simple, straightforward instructions and notes on where to look for more information.
