This simply chic scarf looks clever and elegant, but is extremely easy to make.

Like all minimal knits | DESIGNED scarves, MK#4 drapes beautifully, can be worn in all sorts of ways and is quick to knit because it uses needles larger than is usual for the yarn. An elongated boomerang shape with eyelet edges, it has the effect of being knitted on the bias.

In case you’d like to add a tiny bit of bling, the simply chic scarf pattern includes extremely easy instructions for setting beads into the knitting on two edges (not the edge that normally is closest to the neck), but of course using beads is entirely optional.

The sample scarf was made from a 100g skein of Bombed Yarns 4ply sock yarn in the colour Sour Apple containing 385 metres – 410 yards. Without blocking the scarf measures 62 cm / 24½ inches, by 140 cm / 55 inches, by 184 cm / 72½ inches.

The beaded scarf was made from a 100g skein of Knitsch Singularity 4ply in the colour Silver Lining containing 366 metres – 400 yards. Without blocking the scarf measures 62 cm / 24 inches, by 134 cm / 42 inches, by 172 cm / 67 inches.

Skill Level Easy… even though it might include a technique you haven’t used before, the pattern contains simple, straightforward instructions and notes on where to look for more information.

Materials
Between 350 metres / 394 yards and 385 metres / 421 yards of Fingering/Sock/4 ply yarn
Please note that some yarns knit up more closely than others and if knitted with yarn at the lower end of the quantity range it may require blocking to achieve a practical length
5 mm / US 8 needles
Approximately 5 grams of 6:0 beads optional
Very small crochet hook – 1 mm or less / US size 12 or 13 optional: for knitting with beads

Gauge
Doesn’t matter unless you knit very tightly or very loosely, in which case go up or down a needle size, as applicable.
