The simply sophisticated scarf looks clever and elegant, but is extremely easy to make.

Like all minimal knits | DESIGNED scarves MK#6 drapes beautifully, can be worn in all sorts of ways and is quick to knit because it uses needles larger than is usual for the yarn. A boomerang shape with eyelet edges and rows, it has the effect of being knitted on the bias.

In case you’d like to add a tiny bit of bling, the simply sophisticated scarf pattern includes extremely easy instructions for setting beads into the knitting on two edges (not the edge that normally is closest to the neck), but of course using beads is entirely optional.

The brown scarf was made from two 50g skeins of Mirasol Sulka Legato in the colour Taupe (03) containing 500 metres – 547 yards. It measures 90 cm / 35½ inches, by 140 cm / 55 inches, by 192 cm / 75½ inches without blocking.

The beaded scarf was made from a 100g skein of Bombed Yarns 4ply 100% merino in the colour Orchid containing 472 metres – 516 yards. It measures 73 cm / 28½ inches by 124 cm / 48⅜ inches by 166 cm / 64¾ inches without blocking.

Skill Level Easy… even though it might include a technique you haven’t used before, the pattern contains simple, straightforward instructions and notes on where to look for more information.
