The Montmartre Balaclava is the perfect winter hat, its timeless and elegant style not sacrificing comfort. Its classic, delicately draped shape contrasts with very modern and graphic 2x2 ribbing.

The Montmartre Balaclava is worked in the round and seamlessly. The first step is to create the rectangle at the crown, then pick up stitches to work back and forth in stockinette stitch before joining in the round under the chin, working in 2x2 ribbing. Finally, the stitches are picked up around the face and finished with 2x2 ribbing.

Size: One size fits most - corresponds to an adult woman’s head circumference.

Gauge: 18 stitches x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 inches in stockinette stitch on a 4 mm US6 needle after blocking.

Needles and cables: 4mm US 6 and 3mm US 2.5
Cables: 55cm and 20cm (or longer using Magic Loop)

Sample 1 (brown): 100g “Beara”, Hey Mama Wolf (100g = 212m) held with
25g “Tilia”, Filcolana (25g = 210m).

Sample 2 (green): 100g “Lima”, Drops (50g = 100m) held with
25g “Kid Silk Mohair”, Drops (25g = 200m)
