This shawl was inspired by the beautiful yarn of The Farmer’s Daughter Fibers and the deep friendships I’ve been blessed with in the knitting community. The yarn’s turquoise colors remind me of the earth, our connection to it, and where we come from. Sharing our stories with each other has become as precious as any gemstone.

My Sister’s Braids is a top-down, triangular shawl with intricate cables on a bed of reverse stockinette. The purl side is the Right Side (RS) and the knit side is the Wrong Side (WS). The increases happen on the WS so you can easily increase on the knit side of the fabric. A larger cable acts as the center spine of the shawl, while smaller cables radiate out from the center and are added as the shawl grows. Ribbing trims the bottom and tassels are attached at each point.
There is a checklist chart included in the pattern to help keep the shawl’s pattern rows, the cable pattern rows, and increases clear.
The cable patterns are both charted and written.
