This simple, classic tote is quick and easy to make. Joins are invisibly aligned along the edge for a clean, even finish. Great pattern for a market tote, project bag, beach tote, or whatever you like!

Project is shown in Big Twist Value solid color yarn, but can be made with about 300 yards of any #4/worsted weight yarn you like. (If you need a stronger tote for carrying heavier items, I would recommend using a more robust yarn with some cotton content.)

Pattern requires 5mm/H hook, but gauge is not important unless you want a very specific size. No blocking required.

Except for understanding how to work rows in alternating directions—which is explained in detail and with photos—this is a very beginner-friendly pattern using only basic stitches.
