Introducing the Nina Scarf – a beautifully textured accessory that’s equal parts simple and striking. Using a combination of slipped stitches and garter ridges, this pattern creates a modern, eye-catching fabric that’s as enjoyable to knit as it is to wear. With three sizes written in the pattern—Small, Medium, and Large—and easy instructions for adjusting the length or width, the Nina Scarf can be tailored to suit any look or layering need. Whether you prefer a snug neck wrap or a long, flowing piece, this scarf is endlessly adaptable. Knit it once, and you’ll want one in every size.

This scarf pattern is designed with DK weight yarn and 4.5 mm knitting needles, but its true strength lies in its flexibility. Whether you’re using fingering, worsted, or even chunky yarn, this simple yet elegant design adapts beautifully—letting any yarn shine. I do suggest against using highly variegated yarns or dark colors as they will obscure the stitch pattern. Gauge is not crucial in this pattern.

The scarf begins with a cast-on and a 6-row garter stitch increase section to reach the desired width. Next, you’ll work the main body of the scarf, incorporating a repeating slip stitch and garter ridge pattern, with no further increases. Once you knit the main body to your desired length, you’ll begin garter stitch decreases to shape the scarf, finishing with a neat, tidy tip. The edges feature a built-in faux I-cord that adds an effortlessly elegant, tailored touch—no extra finishing required.

This pattern is highly customizable and can be knit to any size you imagine. Want a generous, snuggly wrap? Or a sleek, lightweight accent scarf? The choice is entirely yours. The pattern includes three ready-to-go sizes (S, M, and L), but it also offers guidance for customizing your own dimensions. It’s a perfect project for stash busting too—I’ve included tips on how to control your yardage usage.

Ideal for beginners, this pattern uses basic, accessible stitches and works up quickly thanks to its rhythmic, repetitive flow. Plus, step-by-step video tutorials are included for all special techniques, so you’ll feel confident and supported from start to finish.

Please note that there is no exact yardage required for this pattern. The reason is because, obviously, everyone likes a different scarf length and I cannot accommodate all of that in the yardage. Same goes for the measurements, I have only included the length of my sample in the pattern.

There is a very in depth section in the pattern about yardage usage which you will find very helpful. Sizes M & L have not been made and this pattern has not been tested. But, the Slipstream Headband & the Dronie Scarf have, and this is basically a combination of the two.
