NookNeck is a cozy neck cowl that gently wraps the neck and shoulders like a small hidden nook.
The two small shoulder pieces are knitted first, then stitches are picked up for the fronts and back to work them top-down, with the armhole edge shaping as you go. After that, the collar is worked from picked up stitches, and finally, 1x1 rib button bands are worked along the neck and front edges, with buttonholes being made as you knit.
Layer it over a shirt or pair it with a coat. Its playful construction makes it a quick and joyful knit — perfect for gifting.

SIZES & FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
S (M/L, XL, XXL)
Upper back width: 34.5 (39, 45, 49.5) cm/13½ (15½, 17¾, 19½)”
Back length (excl. collar): 25.5 (28, 33, 35) cm / 10 (11, 13, 13¾)”
These measurements can be achieved only with the correct gauge. The model has a 37 cm / 14½” shoulder width (measured across the shoulders, excl. arms) and is wearing size S (light pink) with approx. –2.5 cm / –1” ease, size M/L (beige) with approx. 2 cm / 1” ease, and size XL (gray) with approx. 8 cm / 3¼” ease in the upper back width.
Note: For wearing under a coat, choose a size with an upper back width that matches or is smaller than your shoulder width. For layering over a bulky coat or jacket, select a larger size.

GAUGE
17 sts and 24 rows = 10 cm / 4” in stockinette stitch with 4.5 mm / US 7 needle, after blocking.

YARN
Aran weight yarn
200 (240, 290, 340) m / 241 (263, 318, 372) yds.
Samples in size M/L was knitted of Daruma “Falkland Wool” (85 m / 93 yds per 50 g) in col. 2.
Reference: The sizes S and XL samples were knitted with Knitting for Olive “Heavy Merino” (125 m / 137 yds per 50 g) and “Soft Silk Mohair” (225 m / 246 yds per 25 g) together. When using these yarns, the required yardage for each yarn is 240 (280, 330, 400) m /263 (307, 361, 438) yds. Colors used: Size S – Heavy Merino Powder / Soft Silk Mohair Soft Rose; Size XL – Heavy Merino Morning Haze / Soft Silk Mohair Rainy Day.
Note: For a more structured fit at the neckline, especially in larger sizes, choose a yarn isn’t too soft.

NEEDLES
4.5 mm / US 7 and 4 mm / US 6 circular needles, 60 cm / 24” or longer.
Adjust needle size if necessary to get gauge.

OTHER MATERIALS
3 buttons (sample uses 23 mm / ⅞” buttons), tapestry needle, stitch markers, removable markers, waste yarn.

NookNeckは首と肩をやさしく包む、居心地の良いちいさな隠れ家（Nook）のようなネックカウルです。
編み方は、まず両肩の小さなパーツを編み、そこから前身頃と後ろ身頃の目をそれぞれ拾い、アームホール側の端を作りながらトップダウンで編んでいきます。その後、衿を拾って編み、最後に衿と前身頃の端から目を拾ってボタンホールを作りながら１目ゴム編みのボタンバンドを編みつけていきます。
シャツに合わせたり、コートと組み合わせたり。楽しい構造で、さっと編めるのでプレゼントにもぜひどうぞ。

サイズと出来上がり寸法
S (M/L, XL, XXL)
後ろ身頃幅（上部）：34.5 (39, 45, 49.5)cm
後ろ丈（衿は除く）：25.5 (28, 33, 35) cm
正しいゲージで編んだ場合の寸法になります。仕上がり⼨法をもとにお好みのサイズをお選びください。写真のモデルは肩幅（腕を除く）約37cmで、 後身頃幅から肩幅を引いたゆとりの値はそれぞれサイズS（うすピンク）： 約－2.5 cm、サイズM/L（ベージュ）：約２cm、サイズXL（グレー）：約８cmです。
